People Who Vouch for Me

This is Parker and Coop in front of Yale University where no, I did not attend but we visted this su

So far... (but check back, this site changes every week)

  • After serving us on the School Board since 2018 and earning more votes than any candidate of any election in Torrance history, Betty Lieu has endorsed me (Sept. 11, 2026). She left the School Board to serve at City Hall. We've been lucky to have her representing us and we'll follow in her example. We all know she'd be here serving a fourth term at TUSD if the call to serve hadn't taken her to City Hall. We were fortunate to have her representing us for so long at School Board. She's backing me for this seat.
  • Also, important news here today, Sept. 14, 2026, Maria Crawford who so many Riviera, Richardson and South families know--and who has done more for PTA (and honored by PTA) more than anyone else I know... she wrote this which is humbling to read and she's the greatest. I hope you read it!
  • Today's TUSD Board President James Han endorsed me. He too has served with Betty for years and agrees I'll be the right person to serve the District.
  • Current TUSD School Board Member Dr. Anil Muhammed has endorsed me.
  • Current TUSD School Board Member Catherine "Cat" Bones endorsed me.
  • Current TUSD School Board Member Dave Zygielbaum endorsed me.
  • Former TUSD School Board Member Don Lee endorsed me.

That's the whole Board. They all agree I'll be able to help them make Torrance schools better.

The Torrance Teachers Association, August 28, announced they're endorsing me for School Board! Big news.

Do you know the Fureys? Terry Furey has worked for TUSD for years. Pat is our former Mayor in Torrance. They both serve on so many boards and leadership positions still, today, that I cannot list them all. Anyway, they've endorsed me for this race.

The Los Angeles County Democratic Party endorsed me (Sept. 9, 2026)

  • The first person to donate to my campaign was current Riviera Elementary School teacher Allison Williamson!
  • Many Calle and South parents know Josie Lee-Nozaki, a tireless parent volunteer,  she has endorsed me. And before her, the former South High PTA President was Julie Sullivan -- who also teaches in the district. She's backing me too!
  • Staci Resnick, well-known among Riviera families for her long-standing volunteerism, has also lent her support.
  • Katrina Hetrick, which many Walteria and Richardson families know well, has endorsed me for School Board. Katrina is the pitch-perfect example of service and volunteer leadership our schools cherish and deserve. Katrina is world-class.
  • If you know the wonderful Jean Adelsman, then you realize it's a big, big deal that she endorsed me and contributed to the campaign committee too.
  • Sara McKown, recognized by Riviera and Richardson families, has endorsed me as well.
  • I’m grateful for the support of Michele Malone and Karrin Chiamulon, both fantastic teachers at South. Karrin's husband Steve, who has served as the long-time president/volunteer at our local little league, has joined in as well.
  • Maria Crawford, a remarkable parent volunteer in the South Bay, is also vouching for me.
  • Let me tell you about the awesome SHEREE STENZEL who is backing me. When I was PTA president over at Richardson coming out of Covid, SHEREE was the steadfast genius who helped us sort finances and build back PTA support after the Covid shutdown was so hard on families and PTA involvement. She's one of the best volunteers we'll ever know and she's endorsing me! Very few give as much as she does. She's currently doing the same thing at South High PTA with Josie! She's the best.
  • I have also earned the endorsement of Dr. Steven Keller, the former superintendent of Redondo Beach Unified School District, who retired in 2023 after more than 16 years leading the district. Keller is in Area D. He grew up in Torrance, spent more than 36 years in public education as a teacher, principal, district administrator and superintendent. His career included leading major school improvement efforts, guiding RBUSD through the COVID-19 pandemic, and successfully advancing two multimillion-dollar school bond measures. He is backing me.
  • The wonderful Sara Deen who is also on the ballot seeking to be our Assemblywoman from District 66 - she endorsed me. And she knows! She's the president of the PV Unified School District and knows what's needed from school boardmembers.
  • Mike Pandolfo is for me and anyone around South knows Mike from little league, South High boosters, local police association -- Mike is the best. He's backing me.
  • And Katie Zelhart! Yes, Katie who does everything everywhere at our schools, the ultimate volunteer, always saying "yes" and just doing the volunteer work. Katie's backing me.
  • Sara and Colin Means are backing me. Both engineers. Amazing parents. Colin owns a business in Gardena. More importantly, everybody knows them from all the Walteria and Richardson school volunteering, and the little league work they do. Absolutely amazing neighbors and they are voting for me.
  • If you know Kristen Raig then you know. She's one of the great parent volunteers. She's endorsing me.
  • I have the endorsement of the Torrance Democratic Club. (Remember, this is a nonpartisan race and we genuinely need everyone involved in the Torrance Unified School District from all political spectrums to participate.)
  • Indivisible South Bay is behind me, too! They're stepping up with donations and volunteer time knocking doors.
  • You can also ask my wife Jen—she's a strong supporter of my campaign, just like my sons Cal at South High and Linc at Richardson, along with my daughter Lilly, a recent South High graduate.
  • More parent volunteers are joining our team, so stay tuned!
  • Even our family dogs, Parker and Coop, endorse me—and they’d love to meet you.

Who matters most?

What about our Torrance Teachers Association? They endorsed me. Former school board members? I'm reaching out to them too. Parents and neighbors? Yes, of course! Especially the ones with courage to show up at Board meetings and speak out on this heat and the need for better answers to the heat in classrooms. I'm even connecting with other elected officials who serve Torrance residents. And I'm walking around campaigning and asking for support.

Come back to this site and you'll see.

You can also check my social media (links on home page) to see what others think of me regarding the Torrance Unified School District.

Talk to the PTA parents who have volunteered. Ask people. While the PTA is nonpartisan and won't be involved in this election, I'm encouraging you to ask other parents about my candidacy.

Or simply ask my wife, Jen, a teacher. She'll share her thoughts as well.

The Voters of Area D

If you're near these schools in the nice mauve color, let's talk

Families with children in these schools matter, but so do neighbors. If you're near Walteria, Riviera, or Arnold Elementary School--you're in Area D. If you're near Richardson Middle School; yep, Area D. See South High? Area D. The blue area is served by the great Catherine "Cat" Bones already serving on the School Board.

Call me

My feeling is that everybody should know the nearby schools and how to contact their elected school board member with comments or concerns. Each site's principal leads a great team of teachers and classified employees but contact your school board person and get to know this school community. Or text me? (310) 293-0286
